It was an honor to welcome longtime Stowe High School Teacher, Roger Murphy, to Stowe Rotary on August 1st.
Roger came to Stowe High School in 1997, and has had a variety of roles since then - from counselor to alternative program teacher, to teaching a wide range of  English and Social Studies courses. Last year, Roger was awarded a fellowship from the Rowland Foundation of South Londonderry, Vermont to take a year off from teaching in order to develop a rigorous and equitable internship program for Stowe High Students. He spent the fall visiting students and teachers participating in similar programs in high schools around the state, and in the spring, with the help of both school team members and community support, he launched SHINE - The Stowe High Internship Experience.
SHINE is now up and running as a partnership between Stowe High School and businesses and organizations in the community designed to provide internships and other career development opportunities for students.
